Hi, I’m Matthew Wood.
I’ve been practicing Shaolin Cosmos Qigong since 2009 and I’ve seen my life transform on a number of different levels, all for the better. Now that I have been given the opportunity to teach this amazing art, it is my heartfelt wish to pass on the incredible art of Chi Kung to others.
Before 2009 I was practicing Tai Chi at another school. I found that I experienced tingling energy (chi or qi) in my hands and different energy sensations in my body when I performed the warm-up exercises – more so than I did during the Tai Chi practice itself! These “warm-up exercises” were Chi Kung (or Qigong).
From that moment, I made it my mission to find out more. My research led me to Grandmaster Wong Kiew Kit‘s incredible book “The Art of Chi Kung”. I was blown away by the breadth and depth of the art. I thought to myself, “if even a small fraction of this is true, it would be incredible”.
This book led me to train with the UK’s Chief Instructor of Sifu Wong’s school, Shaolin Wahnam, and shortly after learn directly from Grandmaster Wong Kiew Kit himself at a UK Summer Camp. Sifu Wong (Sifu meaning “teacher” or “father”) travelled the world teaching these amazing arts.
I have since travelled to Malaysia on numerous occasions to train with Sifu Wong on intensive and special courses, while practicing diligently at home and attending weekly classes run by other instructors in our school.
I have experienced numerous benefits by training in Qigong and you can read more about them here.
In 2018 I was honoured to be appointed a Qigong Instructor by Sifu Wong and I am now focused on spreading these wonderful arts to others.
